Click the left mouse button to begin charging the power bar. In order to make a successful cast while in this mode, you must cast your line when the power bar is within the designated area. This white area will automatically adjust itself depending on how far you're aiming to throw your line.

Notice the long bar to the right of the screen and the white area inside it. You can adjust your aim left and right, as well as further away from or closer to where you're standing. Pressing the right mouse button will allow you to precisely aim at where you wish to cast. This will prepare the rod for long-range casting.
